Help on Wedding Songs
Question:
We had Collin Raye’s "Many a Mile". Excellent words, we just "stumbled" across it on his album.
What album is this on? I can’t seem to find it. Thanks. Kimberly [ and Jeff ]

Anyone know of any other good daddy daughter songs besides Daddy’s little girl and because you loved me? I am looking for something that really hasn’t been used yet. I am thinking about possibly having Long and winding road, but could use some more suggestions. THANKS Lori
Response:
Don’t know what you think about country music, but Holly Dunn’s "Daddy’s Hands" is really nice. The words go something to the effect of daddy’s hands being soft and loving when she was tired, but hard as steel when she’d done wrong, but there was always love in daddy’s hands. I wish I wold have put more thought into it when I first got married and picked a song like this rather than Daddy’s Little Girl, just because that was what the DJ picked. But I’ll do it right this time! :) –Helen (& Mike) TBD – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Anyone know of any other good daddy daughter songs besides Daddy’s little girl and because you loved me? And here I thought we were being sooo original by going with George! Maybe its just that not many of our friends are into country. But I think _I Cross My Heart_ is perfect, the words really say what we are feeling! Dawn and Jim 2 August 1997 : George Strait’s I Cross My Heart is another good country first dance song. : –Helen (& Mike) TBD
For the benefit of those that would like to see the lyrics: I Cross My Heart Our love is unconditional, we knew it from the start, C#m B A B E I see it in your eyes, you can feel it from my heart C#m B A B From here on after, lets stay the way we are right now F#m G#m A B And share all the love & laughter that a lifetime, will allow. F# G# D B I cross my heart, and promise too, E G#m A B E Give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true, G#m A B E In all the world, you’ll never find, E A B A G#m A love as true, as mine A G#m F#m B E (Turnaround) A G#m F#m B E You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete, And as long as there’s a breath in me, I’ll make your’s just as sweet. As we look in to the future, it’s as far as we can see, So let’s make each tomorrow, Be the best that it can be. I cross my heart, and promise too, Give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true, In all the world, you’ll never find, A love as true as mine And if along the way, we find a day, it starts to storm, A G#m F#m B E You’ve got the promise of my love to keep you warm In all the world, you’ll never find, A love as true as mine, A love as true as mine. give up hope =) Steve K. "I Swear " is another good country love song… A new one: "I Do" by Paul Brandt. "Long as I Live" by John Michael Montgomery is another good one. We are trying to decide between these two. -Julie (& Clint 2/1/97)
We’re planning on "No Doubt About It" by Neal McCoy. Nikki (and Morgan, 6/21/97) — The opinions expressed in this message are my own personal views and do not reflect the official views of the Microsoft Corporation

I don’t even *like* country music and I heard this song the other day (actually, I was at my mom’s and saw the video). It is a great song! I’m definitely going to ask the DJ to play it although it won’t be the first song. Kellie (who had a *real* hard time at her mom’s wedding – all country-western theme, country music, denim BM dresses and black boots, country invitations, western BBQ at the reception at Sam’s Town in Vegas, even a plastic horse with western gear behind the buffet; thank God I know how to two-step at least!)

Anyone know of a really good one for Father Daughter? Annie’s Song by John Denver really reminds me of being little and how I thought that my Dad was perfect. I still think it, only I am not little anymore. Is this song kind of tacky to have for a father and daughter? It is kind of a love song- huh? Lori

D) writes: It’s sung by Faith Hill and it’s on her It Matters to Me CD. Very cool song!!!
Does anyone have a copy of this that they could somehow get to me? Lori
Response:
A GREAT spong, "You Can’t Lose Me"; but not really a good slow dance… It’s a little up-tempo.
Response:
Try also "Keeper of the Stars" by Tracy Bryd, "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait, "I Do" by Paul Brandt (he is new), "As Long as I Live" by John Michael Montgomery. All of these are EXCELLENT Wedding Songs. My fiance and I are having all country songs played in our wedding, besides of course, the Bridal March and the song where the bride and groom leave after they have said their vows.

Will it be good for the "First Dance", or for "Daddy Daughter"? Lori

Keep an eye (ear) out for a new one by Mary-Chaoin Carpenter. Her new CD ("A Place In Your Heart) is due out on October 25. There’s a new song on it called "Sudden Gift Of Fate" that will be great for weddings. She did it when we saw her in Saratoga, NY in August — just remember, you heard about it here first. We are using "Childhood" by The Proclaimers for the Father/Daughter dance and "Because You Loved Me" for the Mother/Son dance. Maybe you could check those out.
